Culture and Heritage

The Culture and Heritage Division is responsible for documenting, researching, promoting, and preserving the culture and heritage of the NWT.

The programs and services provided by the division range from museum-based operations to the administration of archaeological research and protection, funding for arts and culture programs, and curating the NWT Archives. Museum-based operations include exhibit design and the acquisition and care of collections.  The division also participates in the development of NWT culture and heritage-related policies and participates in Federal, Provincial, Territorial (FPT) culture and heritage meetings.

The Culture and Heritage Division fulfills part of its mandate through museum and education services provided to visitors at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, where all of our offices are also located.
