Child care fee reduction subsidy

See all Funding Programs

Overview

The Child Care Fee Reduction (CCFR) Subsidy provides funding to licensed early learning and child care programs (licensed programs) to reduce child care fees charged to families and enhance child care affordability in the Northwest Territories (NWT).

This is another step to increasing the affordability of child care in the NWT and moving the territory towards an average of $10 a day child care by March 31, 2026.

This funding will keep the GNWT on track to meet the goals set out in the Canada-NWT Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement’s two-year Action Plan (2021-2023).

Available funding

The amount of funding provided to licensed programs that opt-in to the CCFR Subsidy will vary based on the type of child care spaces and ages of the children attending their program. Funding is only available for licensed programs that opt-in to receive ECE funding.

The actual reduction in the amount families can expect to pay for child care fees will depend on the current fee the licensed program is charging and the age of the child.

Licensed programs also receive funding to administer the CCFR Subsidy, this amount is calculated monthly based on the number of children registered per month.

Number of Registered Children per Month Administration Funding per Month Maximum Administration Funding per Year
1 to 10 $150/Month $1,800/Year
11 to 30 $450/Month $5,400/Year
