Indigenous Educators Bonus for centre-based employees
Overview
The Indigenous Educators Bonus provides additional funding to Indigenous employees working in centre-based facilities with more than one year of experience.
Available Funding
Indigenous employees working in licensed centre-based facilities can receive up to an additional $2,500 per year in recognition of their culturally specific knowledge and experiences.
The amount the employee receives is pro-rated based on the number of hours they work, up to 1,950 hours per year.
If they work over 1,950 hours a year, they will receive $2,500. If they work less than 1,950 hours a year, they will receive an amount based on the number of hours they work.
Employees can also receive the Northern Experience Bonus if they receive the Indigenous Educators bonus.
Eligibility
Any Indigenous person, as defined in section 1 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Implementation Act, with more than one year of experience in a licensed early learning or child care facility is eligible.
How to Apply
Staff will apply when they apply for their early childhood educator qualification assessment.
