New to the NWT Educators' Conference

New to the NWT Educators' Conference

To support our newly hired NWT educators, the Department of Education, Culture and Employment holds a three-day “New to the NWT” Educators’ Conference (N2NEC) in late August each year. Each newly hired educator will be contacted and invited to take part in this unique and supportive conference. The gathering takes place in Yellowknife and is offered at no cost for all participants.

The August 18-20, 2020 N2NEC has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current Northwest Territories Public Health Order in effect (Emerging Wisely, Phase 2) does not allow for indoor gatherings of more than 25 persons or outdoor gatherings of more than 50 persons. The N2NEC event typically gathers 80 persons (participants, facilitators and staff) each August for three days.

The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) is working, along with education bodies to provide other supports to newly hired educators’ during their 14 days of self-isolation.
