New to the NWT Educators' Conference

To support our newly hired NWT educators, the Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) holds the annual “New to the NWT” Educators’ Conference (N2NEC) over several days in late August.

What is N2NEC?

N2NEC is a free and optional professional learning opportunity extended to all educators that are new to the NWT. It has been created to help orient educators to the foundational elements of education in the territory, provide background knowledge of the unique history and context of education in the NWT, and to begin the process of establishing personal and professional connections.

N2NEC is offered through ConnectEd NWT, an online learning management platform that is hosted by the Department of ECE. It is a combination of content modules that you can review and explore at your own pace and live webinars facilitated by staff with ECE and the Northwest Territories Teachers' Association. The modules provide important information on the foundational elements for teaching in the NWT, while the webinars provide an opportunity for you to engage with colleagues who are also beginning their teaching career in the territory, and to ask questions that will help ease your transition into the life of a teacher here.
