Overview

Supporting Child Inclusion and Participation (SCIP) Emerging Needs Funding provides eligible applicants with funds for additional staffing for one-to-one support for children, up to 6 years of age, who present outside of the yearly proposal process and cannot safely attend early learning without this additional support.

Emerging Needs funding is available on a first-come-first-served basis until the SCIP funding allocation is expended and provides funding for staffing until March 31 of the year of application. Programs who serve children who require additional staffing support are encouraged to plan ahead for inclusion needs and apply for additional staffing through the Yearly Proposal process where possible.

Available funding

The total budget available for the SCIP program (which includes Proposal, Inclusion, and Emerging Needs funding) is $1.7 million per year. The amount applicants receive is determined on a per proposal basis and available funding.

Applications can be submitted at any time.

Eligibility

  • Licensed centre-based early learning and child care programs
  • Community play-based early learning programs operated by:
    • Indigenous governments, organizations, and communities
    • Local governments
    • Non-profit organizations
