Reference Services
We will respond to written and telephone requests about resources and services. Staff will also undertake limited research in response to specific inquiries and will provide guidance on archival holdings and how materials at the NWT Archives may aid your research. Inquiries will be processed in the order in which they are received. Please make your reference request as specific as possible. Search our online resources here.

Photocopying and Scanning
The NWT Archives does allow for photocopying and scanning of archival documents for research purposes. However, for preservation purposes, the photocopying and scanning of delicate materials may only be done at the discretion of NWT Archives staff. The fee for scanning or photocopying services is $0.25 per page.
Recording with Cameras or Cell Phones
Cameras may be used in the reading room to obtain copies of the collection material for reference purposes only. Clients must not stand on tables or chairs or place collection material on the floor to capture an image. Clients must not place tripods directly on documents, or obstruct aisles in the research facilities with photographic equipment, especially tripods. Any camera or other recording device that is unsuitable for use because of its potential negative effect on preservation is not permitted. The NWT Archives reserves the right to refuse the use of any device. When in doubt please consult with archives staff.
