The Department of Education, Culture and Employment is responsible for licensing child day care facilities under the Northwest Territories Child Day Care Act and Standards Regulations. The act and regulations identify minimum standards for health and safety, quality of care, instruction and supervision of children in licensed childcare programs.
In order to receive a child day care facility license, a program must meet the requirements stated in the act and regulations. To monitor compliance, licensing inspections must occur at each facility at least once a year.
Visit the Childcare Inspection and Information page to find and view information about licensed dayhomes and daycares in the NWT including their contact information.
