About Scientific Services Office

The Scientific Services Office provides the following services:

  • licensing research in accordance with the NWT Scientists Act; and
  • promoting communication between researchers and the people of the communities in which they work.

The office also:

  • compiles and publishes the Compendium of Research in the NWT on an annual basis in collaboration with Environment and Natural Resources , Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre and Fisheries and Oceans Canada; and
  • maintains an online public database of research licences issued in the territory.

Research in the NWT is regulated by policies set out by the GNWT. Researchers should be familiar with the Scientists Act.
