The following resources are FREE to all NWT public library cardholders.

    • Downloading and reading eBooks is as easy as 1-2-3 with Freading, an eBook service free to all NWT public library cardholders. Choose from over 58,000 fiction and non-fiction eBooks, including all the Lonely Planet Travel Guides. Freading eBooks are always available for downloading, with no wait-times or hold lists.     • Get music downloads and streaming with Freegal Music. Download the app to your mobile device and sign in using your library card number and PIN.
  • Learn New Languages

    • Get world language tutorials for FREE at Rocket Languages. Sign in using your library card number and learn one of 15 languages including American Sign Language. Learn at your own pace and save your progress between sessions.

  • Magazines/Newspapers/Image Gallery/Reference Books/Biographies

    • The Canadian Reference Centre - online access to a large collection of full-text Canadian and International content – updated daily and includes:

      • 150+ Canadian magazines and journals - including Maclean's, Canadian Geographic, Chatelaine, Elle Canada, Canadian Living, and many more.

  • World Book Online

    • Online access to World Book Encyclopedia (Easy access on desktops, laptops, and tablets).

      • Early World of Learning EWOL focus for early learners (stories, reading games and videos);

      • World Book for Kids, focus for elementary school users;

      • World Book Student, focus for middle grade users (current events biographies etc.);

      • World Book Advanced, focus for high school and older (world newspapers and articles).

  • Dictionary of Canadian Biography

    • An online dictionary with biographical entries for individuals who have contributed to the history of Canada. It contains almost 8,500 biographies and is accessible in English or French. Click here to access.

  • Oxford English Dictionary
