Early Childhood Staff Grant, Scholarship & Training
The Early Childhood Staff Grant is a Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) program to increase the financial income of early childhood staff who work in licensed day care centre facilities.
The purpose of the Early Childhood Staff Grant is to increase the earning potential for licensed day care centre staff and also offer an incentive to attract new professionals to the early childhood workforce. It is just one of the ways that ECE is working towards strengthening the capacity of the early childhood field in the NWT. Click below for more information and to apply for an ECE Staff Grant.
To download an application or information package for staff grant, please visit the Early Childhood Development document page.
Scholarships of $5000 each will be awarded to NWT students to help full-time college and/or university students offset the costs of attending southern accredited post-secondary institutions to complete Diploma or Degree programs with a direct focus in Early Childhood Development studies during the 2019-2020 academic year. Students enrolled in online programs are not eligible.
ECE is committed to offering Northern residents working in licensed facilities access to training and resources. Through events such as the Early Childhood Symposium which is held annual at the end of August for licenced family home daycare facilities, and day home providers, ECE is able to provide residents with the access they need in order to plan for professional development and skill enhancement for them and their staff.
