What is this engagement about?
As part of the transformation of Aurora College into a polytechnic university, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) committed to establishing areas of teaching and research specialization for the polytechnic university. To support input from Indigenous governments, industry and key stakeholders, the GNWT has drafted a discussion paper that proposes four areas of teaching and research specialization, what they mean and why they are important. Establishing areas of specialization will help the polytechnic university be effective, efficient and sustainable moving forward. The areas of specialization are not final program decisions.
How do I participate?
Input on the NWT Polytechnic University Areas of Teaching and Research Specialization discussion paper closed on September 28, 2020.
How will my input make a difference?
Identifying areas of teaching and research specialization for the polytechnic university will provide a basis for continued discussions and planning. Areas of specialization will guide programming decisions and shape the design and delivery of those programs, they do not explicitly dictate what programs will be offered. Programming decisions will require further engagement, analysis and discussion.
