Primary Objective:
Since time immemorial, the Dene have had a very deep
respect for water and rivers as a living force and
spirit. Lack of respect has meant death for individuals
and the threat of death for many more because of actions
and attitudes which pollute or harm our access to water.
If the students can learn how important water is for
life then perhaps not only will the life of an
individual be saved, but that of all mankind. In the
North, knowing the habits of water and rivers has been a
matter of survival. Navigational skills will give
students a greater sense of security on the land which
in turn will make them feel more at one with the land
and its water. |
