Local Labour Market Partnerships

 


Labour force development is best supported through partnerships and strategic alliances with employers, government agencies, aboriginal governments, community groups and training institutions.

Program Objective

Labour Market Partnerships support community partners in identifying economic trends and creating strategies to develop a responsive local labour force.

Program Description:

Community Partnerships are formed to identify and initiate projects. Contributions may be solely financial or combined with in-kind supports.

Types of Labour Market Partnership Activities include:

  • Developing a strategic plan to address community economic and employment issues

  • Developing local planning groups

  • Researching and marketing new programs and services

  • Analyzing training and employment opportunities

  • Facilitating community problem solving

  • Tracking or assessing labour market or community interventions

  • Promoting employment supports to employers and unemployed workers

Eligible Sponsors

Business/ employers, non-profit organizations, municipal governments, Band / tribal councils, individuals and groups may apply for funding.

Eligible Clients

To be eligible, a partnership must be formed in the community toward developing employment and economic success.  Individuals do not receive services directly through this program.  An agreement through a partnership with other community agencies and organizations may lead to the development of individuals and the community as a whole.

How long is the Program?

The duration of funding will normally not exceed one year.

Financial Assistance

Examples of eligible cost include:

Wages, administration costs, professional service fees, disbursements for research or technical studies, commuting and capital costs.
