The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT)
is committed to developing a skilled, northern
workforce.
The goal of Advanced Training Initiatives for the
Oil and Gas Industry is to support northern workers
to acquire skill training for entry-level employment
and for advancement in the industry. |
|
The Advanced Training Initiatives for the
Oil and Gas Industry are designed to:
-
Support northern oil and gas workers to acquire certified
skill training for entry-level employment;
-
Provide access to specialized entry-level training and other
specialized training needed for advancement within the oil
and gas industry.
Funding for this initiative is allocated to regional
Education, Culture and Employment Career Centres. The Career
Centres receive and approve training proposals supporting
this initiative.
Without
partnerships, successful industry-specific training is difficult
to deliver. Advanced Training Initiatives for the Oil and Gas
Industry are often delivered in partnership with a variety of
organizations. Some of the partners include: Aurora College,
Petroleum Industry Training Service (PITS) or other appropriate
southern training institutions, oil and gas companies,
Aboriginal organizations, regional ECE offices and DIAND.
